An open letter to the barista at my favorite coffee shop

I don’t know your name, but you’ve come to know mine.

It’s not so strange if you think about it since I come in about once a day. Okay, lately it’s been about twice a day.

I remember when I first tasted real coffee. Good coffee. A couple of year ago. I promised myself to never go cheap on the coffee again, if I could afford doing so. There is so much difference between a cheap cup of coffee and actual good coffee with flavor.

And every time I come in you make me feel welcome and appreciated. I don’t care if it’s marketing, or if it’s a fake smile, I still enjoy it and I still appreciate you asking me how I’ve been.

You made me realize that a smile from a stranger can sometimes make someone’s day, and now I try to smile more often too. Even if I don’t really have a reason to do so.
