I first read about so-called running streaks on this subreddit and I was intrigued right away. A running streak is just that: running every single day for as many days in a row as you can. The rules? There aren’t many. Run at least one mile (1.6 km) a day. Don’t skip any. That’s it.
You’re probably asking yourself why anyone would put themselves through this. Why not just run a couple of times a week?
A mile isn’t much, and it really isn’t about the distance. It’s about the commitment.
Have you ever set a new years resolution for yourself only to abandon it on January 4th? Yeah, me too. Doing a running streak is about more than just running. It’s about setting a goal and working towards it. It’s about making time for the things you care about and it’s a way to help you focus on your health. Or at least it helps me focus on my health. When I’m exercising, I want to feel good. So I eat better.
Some days I will be running just one mile. Other day I’ll run three or six. But I will put at least one mile in every day.
That’s it. A running streak. I started today. Tomorrow will be day 2. I’m excited.
