Get Rid Of Sunday Blues: How To Make The Most Of Your Weekend

The feeling of Friday evening is all too familiar with me. It feels like the week is wrapped up, and you’re ready to just relax. I love relaxing, but when I hang around in my pj’s for a long time I just start feeling like I’m in a slump.

Being productive is better for my mind and soul. Here’s how I plan my weekends, and still get the rest I need.

Do the stuff you don’t have time for during the workweek
I’m talking laundry, cleaning and grocery shopping. You probably don’t feel like doing it, but chances are you feel even less like doing it on a work day. I usually spend Saturdays pretty productive. I clean, shop if necessary and wrap up work from Friday if I need to. I like to relax Sunday afternoon and Sunday evening, because those last moments of relaxation are precious to me. I don’t want to spend them scrubbing my floor.

Do a digital detox
Taking a break from technology is a great way to relax, especially when computers and phones are part of your job. I love doing this with my partner. We just spend Sunday afternoon out and about, leaving our phones at home. It doesn’t really matter what you do, but I like to take walks and go for brunch. Even disconnecting for only a few hours (just put your phone on airplane mode!) makes all the difference.

Plan something to look forward to
Dreading Monday? Something that helps me is to plan something small to look forward to. It doesn’t have to be that significant. Maybe plan to wear the new sweater you bought for the first time on Monday, or try out that new breakfast recipe you found online. Anything that helps you get out of bed and not dread the Monday so much can help. You’ll look forward to it on Sunday night!

Saying goodbye to the weekend will never be something I enjoy, but with these little tricks, I don’t dread Monday as much as I used to and helps me to get more use out of my weekends, while still feeling rested when the new week starts.
